Thanks to Sidelines Magazine for a terrific story about Lingh, the Win a Ride on Lingh Contest and our winner Hannah Allescher. Cut and Paste the link above and enjoy.
Exciting days for the Southern German Breeders as the Birkhof Stallion Show and Gala gets under way. Lingh was a star, performing with Ina – the 13 year old niece of Stallion Master Thomas Casper. Together with Karin, Lingh will be center stage next weekend. Join us for a wonderful 2 days!
It was an event to remember – Chris and I got put in jail and had to donate money to get out !
Equestrian Aid Foundation’s Mission is to build a membership based organization to assist anyone in the equestrian world suffering from life threatening illness, catastrophic accidents or injuries by providing direct financial support for their medical or other basic needs.
Our pledge is to treat our recipients with dignity and respect while promising our members and sponsors the highest level of fiduciary responsibility with their dues and donations.
The EAF History:
In 1996, six time Olympic Dressage rider, Robert Dover, together with R. Scot Evans, Gene Mische, Mason Phelps, Jr., Robert Ross and Kim Tudor established the 501(c)3 Equestrian AIDS Foundation (EAF). Their first board directive stated that EAF would provide direct support to equestrians living with HIV/AIDS. And provide they did, helping equestrians in need for the past 10 years.
Although we have grown and expanded, the Equestrian Aid Foundation, as the organization became known as in 1996, has always prided itself on how we deliver service. Financial support from EAF is provided directly to the petitioning equestrian or their representative. Funds donated to EAF are used to provide various essentials that may include medical needs, health insurance, food and housing, transportation, physical therapy and more.
Equestrian Aid Foundation’s Mission is to build a membership based organization to assist anyone in the equestrian world suffering from life threatening illness, catastrophic accidents or injuries by providing direct financial support for their medical or other basic needs.
While there are costs related to running any organization, EAF strives to minimize operating expenses through in-kind donations of office space, graphic design and other administrative costs whenever possible.
If you’ve shared the thrill of watching stadium jumping, awed at the athleticism of man and horse as they do intricate cutter routines, cheered as your favorite dressage rider makes her horse dance around the ring or just enjoyed watching equestrians on TV not knowing much about their sport but able to appreciate the sheer beauty of it all, please donate to the Equestrian Aid Foundation family. Take pride in knowing that your generosity today will ensure a brighter tomorrow for an equestrian in need.
I was lucky to arrive in Wellington at the most exciting time ….the opening event of the Global Dressage Festival. I am a huge proponent of the project and Mark Bellissimo is like a huge circus master that will bring all these dreams to life. He reminds me of Ulf Rosengren in Sweden at Globen.- we cannot fault this man for lack of “try”. His words are…..”The critical economic driver for the success of the “top” sport is sponsorship. Without a strong sponsorship model there’s no meaningful top sport in this country, and there’s no financial model for the riders. There needs to be more productive collaboration between the top riders and organizers in an effort to create “personalities” in the sport and a more engaging and marketable product that attracts media interest and corresponding sponsorship. We’re investing in this future, but it’s a long, slow process.” So we challenge Mark to make Sponsorship a top goal toward making the Global Dressage Festival a success.

The gala evening of the “Day the South” presented the German stallion Stud Birkhof their grand entrance on the occasion of the 50th anniversary. Sensationally, the first appearances of Lingh and Denario with our “young team-makers made by family Casper” were introduced !

Piaffen, Passagen, Einerwechsel… Der Braune, ehemaliges Top-Pferd von Doppel-Weltmeister Edward Gal, drehte auf – Ina und Lingh waren die Sensation des Abends! |
Organized by Wellington Classic Dressage , the event was HUGE and AMAZING….we loved it. For those of you in Europe or here in the USA, here are several images to enjoy ! More photographs to follow…compliments of Sue Stickle!
It was exciting, and special driving thru the gates of the NEW DRESSAGE WEF….to see the progress of our newest dressage facility being built in Wellington. The men were hard at work laying down some concrete for the entrance. Here’s a photo to show that work for horse sport goes 24/7 in Wellington, Florida.
Hats off to the workers !

I have been spending a great deal of time recently on writing letters. Letters to the breeders of the Lingh foals, past and present and all around the world. All the breeders and present owners are being given my postal address, my email address and access to my website so that the stories of the Lingh offspring can be told and shared. Yesterday I cleaned up the office and the letters, the library and the table where all these Thanksgiving and Christmas notes were written. NOW, it is time to work on the computer. Except, I have one more project to complete. I am going to move mountains and get the Dressage Foundation’s School for Equestrian Fundraising out into the public eye. It’s going to be an amazing accomplishment this school. We are going to build relationships with young equestrians and we will reach out to the adults – amateurs and professionals – interested in learning how you can go about funding your own equestrian career. It’s been a busy couple months and I have many Lingh stories to share with you and adventures to share with you !
As I get to know my new computer and figure out the different and new bells and whistles….my New News will be current and fun…so enjoy the ride with Lingh and I….he is a masterpiece ! More on the first foal soon !

As the days creep closer to the holiday, all the projects of this year are being wrapped up. One such endeavor that I am quite proud of goes as follows….
Carriage Rides in Downtown Harbor Springs
Horse and carriage rides in Harbor Springs are now available in downtown Harbor Springs. Approved by city council at Monday’s meeting, the rides will begin Friday, December 23 and continue on Fridays and Sundays through the winter ski season months.
From 2-6pm on Fridays and Sundays (excluding Christmas and New Year’s Day), visitors can tour Harbor Springs by horse and carriage. The “take-off” and “meeting” zone is on Bay Street near The Pier, The New York and the Bar Harbor, with other stops at the loading zones near the Island Bean; the Woolly Bugger; and the Hotel Janelle loading zone by Turkey’s and American Spoon. The carriage will depart from the Bay Street location every 30 minutes.
Brek-n-Ridge Farm owner Karin Offield spearheaded the idea for the horse and carriage operation. The owner of the operation and driver, local resident Scott Ward will provide visitors and residents of Harbor Springs a unique view and historical perspective of the community with the new service.
“What a great way to see Harbor Springs,” said Offield. “We have worked with area businesses and the Chamber of Commerce as well as the City of Harbor Springs to provide this new downtown opportunity. Carriage rides will complete the storybook holiday and skiing attraction for our winter guests’ downtown and shopping and dining experience. We will be adding sounds of jingle bells and horse hooves on pavement and the visual of an old fashioned horse-drawn carriage.”
There is no cost for the carriage rides; the cost of the service is supported by downtown businesses.

A message to all members of Northern Michigan Moms
I have had the pleasure of spending some time at Brek-N-Ridge Farm!Instructors are offering off season rates for lessons. From November-May your rider will receive eight semi private 1-hour lessons for $300!
Gift certificates are available.
I have found that my daughter’s love of horses has given her confidence, taught her responsibility and instilled a greater appreciation for the world around her.
The gift of a relationship with a horse isn’t something that will be played with and shelved. It is a passion many carry through adulthood.
Instructor Karin Offield is planning a free demonstration day this Saturday, December 3rd, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in her beautiful indoor arena at the farm. You are protected from the winter elements but it’s still a little chilly so, dress warmly and bring your questions! Hope to see you there:)
Check out this video from my time there so far
